Solaire Infrared Burner Removal

Removing your Solaire Infrared Burner in order to deep clean the grill's firebox is easy. Please follow these steps:

Step 1 - After grill is completely cold, remove grilling grids to provide access to burner.

Step 2: Grasp the back portion of the burner with both hands. Lift upward slightly to free the burner from the support in the bottom of the firebox (the 27G and Anywhere portable models have tension retainers that require more upward force to accomplish this step).

Step 3: Continue to lift the back portion of the burner in order to remove the venturi (burner "pipe") out through the hole in the front face of the firebox. **Be careful that you do not bend the igniter electrode during this step**

Step 4: Remove burner from the grill and carefully place in an area where it will be free from impact or moisture (water on a cold burner ceramic will permanently damage the ceramic tiles).

Step 5: While the burner is removed, inspect the holes in the ceramic tiles for any blockage. Clear blocked ports by either carefully scraping away surface deposits, or hole by hole with either a small wire or twist drill. Be careful not to enlarge any holes. Give the burner a good shake with the venturi (pipe) pointing downward to remove ash from inside the burner.

Step 6: Place the burner back into the grill by reversing the above sequence.

My burner blows out with a large popping sound when the grill gets hot or runs for awhile. Does anyone no why.

I have recently been having the same problem. I also noticed that one of the infrared blocks is cracked on the side the popping is coming from. I am now on a hunt to replace the burner. Any suggestion on where to order a replacement?

We bought a house that had this grill already in an outdoor kitchen. Before we moved here I used to grill 5 times a week on our Sears traditional burner gas grill but I HATE using this Solaire grill! I like to cook mostly chicken, burgers, thin pork chops, fish and vegetables but every time I try a low heat with this grill it BLOWS OUT!!!! Top that off with the fact that the igniter is broken so I have move food off the grill and lift a hot grate to re-light this thing; it is SOOO ANNOYING. Last time I used the grill and it blew out, I finished cooking in a skillet on the stove. Chicken and pork chops are dried out to almost shoe leather with burnt outsides even with me standing right over the grill turning the foods. Burgers and steak insides are under cooked with burnt outsides, my kids won't eat a burger off this grill. I have tried cooking on a turned off side by indirect heat from the turned on side but no heat really transfers to the turned off side (I could even put my hand on that side that was off). I tried cooking with the foods on the top grate but the heat didn't really get high enough to cook up there either. If I could use this on low it wouldn't be so bad but I have never had it stay lit on anything below the star and sometimes just above the star it blows out too. My husband and I thought of buying the conversion kit to turn it into a traditional gas grill with flame burners but I am just not sure I want to put any money into it. The previous owners said it was here because the pool will rust lesser stainless grills but that isn't doing me any good if I can't cook on it. I am not crazy about how wide the grates are either because the char marks get too wide on most foods, making the food burned in many places, but that is a side issue. Anyone know how to keep this grill from blowing out?!?!?!?!
